Gotham FC boss looks ahead to Corinthians clash in Women's Champions Cup

The clash between Corinthians and Gotham FC in the semifinals of the Women's Champions Cup is already gaining attention even before the ball starts rolling. The match is scheduled for January 28 in London, bringing together two champion teams from their respective continents.

Even with the American team still involved in preparatory friendly matches, coach Juan Carlos Amorós admitted that the duel against the Brabas is already part of Gotham's planning for the international competition. “We are focused on our friendlies now, but obviously with our eyes on the first game against Corinthians,” stated Amorós.

The Spanish coach also highlighted the respect for the Brazilian club, citing the trajectory built by Corinthians in South American women's football over the past years, especially in continental tournaments.

“We must never underestimate an opponent, especially with the history and knowledge of Corinthians, which has won numerous Copa Libertadores and has dominated South American football for a long time. Therefore, it will be a great challenge,” he added.

Corinthians reaches the semifinals as one of the main representatives of women's football outside Europe, backed by a series of continental achievements and the consolidation of the sports project in recent years. The duel against Gotham FC is a ticket to the tournament's final and is considered one of the most balanced clashes of the competition.

The FIFA Women's Champions Cup was created to bring together, in a single tournament, champion clubs from each confederation affiliated with the entity. The inaugural edition features six participants and will be held annually, except in years when the Women's Club World Cup takes place.

In the current edition, four teams remain in the title race: Arsenal from England; Corinthians from Brazil; Gotham FC from the United States; and AS FAR-MAR, representing the African continent.
