Marseille beat Auxerre 1-0 at the Vélodrome as Amine Gouiri's second half strike kept them third in Ligue 1.

After the restart, Habib Beye introduced Gouiri and the forward settled it in the 79th minute, steering a right-footed finish into the bottom left from the centre of the box.

Gerónimo Rulli preserved the lead with smart stops, tipping away Romain Faivre's effort (86.) and gathering Danny Namaso's shot (89.). He then saved again from Faivre in the first minute of second half stoppage time as Auxerre pushed.

Les Olympiens tallied 16 attempts and forced nine corners while controlling 57.9% possession. Auxerre produced eight attempts and tested Rulli three times.

Next, Les Olympiens host Lille. Auxerre face Brest at home.
