Graham Alexander returns to Preston as manager after Bradford exit | OneFootball

Preston North End have appointed 54-year-old Graham Alexander as manager after he left Bradford City.

According to Daily Echo, he replaces the sacked Paul Heckingbottom during the international break. Preston have lost six of their first seven Championship games this season.

Alexander returns to Deepdale 14 years after retiring there as a player, having made 372 appearances across two spells for the Lancashire club.

At Bradford, Alexander led the Bantams to promotion to League One in 2024/25, and has them top of this season’s table with five wins from seven games.

Saints are due to visit Preston after the break, with Alexander’s side hosting on Saturday, November 7 at 3pm.

Alexander said it felt special to be named manager, adding that he had an amazing time at Preston as a player and is pleased to be back. He said his previous teams improved league positions and built sides supporters could connect with, and he wants to win.

Former Preston defender and long-time assistant Chris Lucketti has joined the backroom staff. The duo have previously worked together at Fleetwood, Scunthorpe, Salford, Motherwell and MK Dons, as well as recently at Bradford.
