Preston North End appoint Graham Alexander as manager | OneFootball

Preston North End have announced the appointment of former defender Graham Alexander  as the club's new manager.

The Lilywhites have brought in the 54-year-old from Bradford City as a replacement for sacked manager Paul Heckingbottom. Alexander, along with assistant and fellow ex-Preston man Chris Lucketti,  will be tasked with turning around the Lancashire side's poor start to the season.

"It’s a special feeling to be named manager of this football club," Alexander said on his appointment.

"After speaking to Preston, I knew this was the place I wanted to be. I had an amazing time here as a player and it’s great to be back.

"At previous clubs, we’ve always improved league positions and created a team that people can appreciate and attach themselves to.

"I want to win, I want to be successful, and a big part of that is having ambitions."

Preston are currently 23rd in the Championship with just one win in their opening eight games so far this season. Alexander will now have an extended break to get his team ready for the visit of Millwall on October 10th.
