Leeds United beat Burnley 3-1 at Elland Road on Friday, moving nine points clear of 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur and edging towards safety.
Anton Stach put the hosts ahead inside eight minutes, drilling in from 25 yards at Martin Dubravka’s near post after a sharp first touch. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chief football writer Graham Smyth filed his Leeds United player ratings from the game.
Noah Okafor doubled the lead on 53 minutes, volleying in after fine work by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jayden Bogle. Calvert-Lewin then forced home from close range after Ao Tanaka’s effort was saved.
Burnley responded through Loum Tchaouna soon after a strike had been ruled offside. Leeds regained control and saw out the closing stages with little alarm.
Smyth’s ratings were generous. Karl Darlow was given eight after a standout save before an offside goal, with Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol also on eight, the latter supplying a neat pass for Stach’s opener.
Pascal Struijk received seven after an error for the Burnley goal and a compelling duel with Tchaouna. Jayden Bogle earned seven, adding a second half assist, while Ethan Ampadu took eight for physicality and control.
