Leeds United are aiming to strengthen in the final week of the January window.
Their only addition so far is Brighton and Hove Albion attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte on loan after summer interest. Outgoings include Jack Harrison joining Serie A strugglers Fiorentina on loan, which could become permanent in the summer, and young prospect Harry Gray moving to Rotherham United.
“I think it’s more likely to be one than two, but it still could be zero. I think the thing to add here is there is a big thing at Leeds about not doing any deals you regret at the end of the season and I think that you’ve got to have that in the back of your mind when it comes to Strand Larsen as well. If this gets pushed and pushed and pushed fee-wise, you have to ask it worth stretching ourselves. You have to start asking questions like what if Calvert-Lewin stays fit and this guy gets five minutes here and there. Is he a player you see taking over from Calvert-Lewin next season or the season after? Is he a long-term project?”
Graham Smyth was speaking on The Inside Elland Road podcast.
“The way it was phrased to me, even before the Strand-Larsen thing came out, was we are now squarely in the area of seeing what possibilities the market might give us. If it’s not Strand-Larsen, I think they’ll look at a nine and maybe another option.”
