Ryan Gravenberch’s agent, Jose Rodriguez, has revealed that the Liverpool midfielder would love to play for Real Madrid later in his career.
Gravenberch has been a vital part of Liverpool’s bid to win the Premier League after putting a challenging first year at the club behind him.
The 22-year-old has started all 31 league matches for Liverpool this term, flourishing in a deep-lying role under manager Arne Slot.
In an interview with Marca, Rodriguez offered insight into Gravenberch’s ambitions.
He says Barcelona and Madrid have shown interest in the midfielder since his teenager since he was a teenager.
However, his father and Rodriguez decided he should stay with Ajax.
“When Ryan was 16, Barca called us,” Rodriguez said. “They wanted to sign him, but his father and I prioritised his development.
“At Ajax, he was able to develop in a way that he possibly wouldn’t have at Barca.”
Now that Gravenberch is playing at a higher level, Rodriguez believes he is ready for a move to La Liga.
“He’s good enough for Madrid,” Rodriguez added. “We would love for him to play for them, but Liverpool would ask for a lot of money. I know they’ve had their eye on him, but now it’s impossible.”
Gravenberch has made 81 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists. He is a crucial player in the way Slot’s side play.
