Greenwood form attracts interest around Europe

Marseille striker Mason Greenwood’s electric form will be pleasing his former club Manchester United — who stand to earn a substantial windfall if Ligue 1’s joint-most productive forward secures a big-money move.

Greenwood has scored eight goals and provided three assists in the French top flight this season, continuing the red-hot form that yielded 22 goals in 36 matches during his debut campaign at Marseille.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has insisted the 24-year-old is not currently “in our thoughts” at international level, but Greenwood’s clinical finishing has drawn interest across Europe, with Real MadridBayern Munich and others reportedly tracking him.

Across Europe’s Top 5 leagues, only Erling Haaland (14), Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé (13), plus Joaquín Panichelli (9), have scored more. Greenwood’s eight goals from just 11 shots on target underline his efficiency.

He has also added three assists and sits joint-seventh in Ligue 1 for key passes (22), further boosting his overall impact.

Those numbers have sent Greenwood’s market value soaring — he is currently listed at €39 million by Playmaker — with Premier League clubs Tottenham and West Ham rumoured to be weighing up a move.

Greenwood’s Manchester United career was derailed by criminal charges in 2023. Although the case was dropped, an internal Old Trafford review concluded it was best for the forward to continue his career elsewhere.

However, United inserted a 40–50% sell-on clause in his move to France — meaning if Greenwood maintains this form, the Red Devils could be set for a significant payday in the near future.
