Grêmio have agreed the sale of defender Viery to Fiorentina. According to Globo.com, only paperwork remains before the deal is signed, and the club have not commented.
The package is worth more than 17 million euros, with 15 million euros guaranteed and a further 2 million euros in add-ons. The negotiations were led by agent Vinicius Prates.
Grêmio will receive the full fee and have retained a percentage of any future sale. Earlier this week the club secured the signing of centre-back Wallace from CRB.
Fiorentina had previously offered around 12 million euros, which Grêmio rejected. The club had targeted close to 20 million euros for the 21-year-old. Juventus sought to involve him in talks over Arthur, an idea Grêmio declined.
Viery established himself at centre-back this year under Luís Castro and became a standout. Last year he debuted as a professional and initially featured at left-back.
At the end of 2025 he was on a list of players permitted to leave, but a boardroom change altered his status and he drew market interest. Benfica, Brighton and Newcastle tracked him, with the latter sending scouts to the Arena for the first leg of the Gauchão final Gre-Nal.
Lille and Bologna also made informal enquiries. Grêmio have made no secret of the need to sell in this window, and midfielder Gabriel Mec could also depart.
