Grêmio and Peñarol remain in negotiations over striker Matías Arezo, currently on loan to the Uruguayan side until the end of December. Peñarol want to make the move permanent.
The talks are being led by Peñarol president Ignácio Ruglio. According to Globo.com, there has been no significant progress so far, with the price the main sticking point, while Grêmio remain open to discussions.
When Grêmio loaned Arezo in July, the contract set a 4 million dollar purchase option, R$ 22.1 million at the time. Peñarol want to negotiate a lower fee.
With Arezo, Peñarol won the Copa do Uruguai and finished runners-up in the Liga Uruguaia. He posted 12 goals and four assists in 24 matches in the second half of the year.
Grêmio signed Arezo in July last year from Granada for 3 million euros, R$ 17 million at the time, and he is contracted until 2028. He has six goals and two assists in 37 appearances for the Tricolor.
