Grêmio announce signing of Danilo Barbosa on deal to 2028

Grêmio said they have signed Danilo Barbosa. The 30-year-old will arrive in Porto Alegre at the weekend for medical tests and will sign a contract running to the end of 2028.
The midfielder was most recently at Al Ula in Saudi Arabia’s second tier, making 35 appearances in 2025/2026 with five goals and two assists.
In Brazil, he came through at Vasco and later played for Palmeiras and Botafogo. He won the Libertadores in 2021 and 2024. At Botafogo he also won the Brazilian title and worked under coach Luís Castro.
Overseas, Danilo Barbosa featured for Nice, Braga, Benfica, Standard Liège and Valencia.
He arrives as replacement for midfielder Leonel Pérez, who has joined Racing of Argentina on loan. Danilo Barbosa becomes Grêmio’s sixth signing of the current window, following Matheus Nascimento, Wallace, Diego Caito, Jovane Cabral and Filip Krovinovic.
