Grêmio have arranged a one-year loan for Monsalve to Estudiantes, including an option to buy at the end of the deal. According to Globo.com, the Colombian midfielder is to spend the next year with the Argentine club.
Signed in 2024, he never fully established himself at the Tricolor. Under Luís Castro he lost his place, and last week he was separated from the first team and sent to train at the Hélio Dourado centre in Eldorado do Sul.
Grêmio had been searching for a new club for the player, who was not in their plans. His removal from the main group was linked to his refusal of proposals.
Monsalve has not played since 23 July, a defeat to Bolívar in the Sudamericana, when he featured for 30 minutes. He has not been named in a matchday squad since.
This year he has made only 13 appearances, scoring once against Juventude in the Gauchão group stage, and providing no assists.
Across his spell with Grêmio he has played 63 times, with seven goals and five assists. Grêmio paid US$ 2.5 million for 50 percent of his economic rights to sign him from Independiente Medellín, and his contract runs until the end of 2028.
