Grêmio are finalising details to formalise Lucas Esteves’ departure, with the left-back expected to be sold to San Luís in Mexico.

According to Globo.com, he is not in head coach Luís Castro’s plans for the season and, at the board’s request, only reported back on Monday.

In recent weeks he received enquiries from Brazilian sides Coritiba, Ceará and Vitória, who explored a loan move.

Esteves joined Grêmio in February 2025 on a contract running to 2027. He started under Gustavo Quinteros but became a reserve after Marlon arrived. This season the club added further competition at left-back with Caio Paulista.

In Mexico, Esteves will be a team-mate of striker João Pedro Galvão, who is also at Atlético San Luis.
