Grêmio are close to confirming the signing of midfielder Juan Ignacio Nardoni after progress in talks with Racing, with financial details undisclosed.
Talks are described internally as advanced and on track, although details still need to be settled with Racing, ESPN Argentina reports.
Racing previously sought US$ 10 million, R$ 52.6 million, for the 23-year-old. In Argentina, it was said the offer stood at US$ seven million plus US$ two million in performance bonuses, a total of R$ 47.3 million. Grêmio deny those figures and have not confirmed the fee.
Racing signed Nardoni in 2023 for US$ six million, R$ 32.5 million at the time, including taxes and commissions. The involvement of Saja, who played for Grêmio and worked with executive Paulo Pelaipe then, has helped communication between the clubs.
Nardoni started two of Racing’s three games in 2026, defeats to Gimnasia and Rosário Central. He was among the substitutes for the loss to Tigre on Monday.
Grêmio had also explored Guido Rodríguez, who moved from West Ham in England to Valencia, and Evertton Araújo of Flamengo for the role. This year they have brought in forwards Tetê and Enamorado, goalkeeper Weverton and left-back Caio Paulista, and they are also searching for a number 10.
