Grêmio have confirmed the termination of Edenilson’s contract by mutual agreement. The 36-year-old is in Rio de Janeiro to sign for Botafogo.

The club said in a statement that the deal was concluded by mutual consent and thanked the midfielder for his service while wishing him well.

He had asked to leave after Sunday’s draw with Juventude, having struggled to settle in Porto Alegre.

His contract, renewed at the end of last season, had been due to run until December 2026. Under the termination, Grêmio will pay only the amounts committed up to February, not the remaining term.

Edenilson is the 17th player to depart since the change of management in December. Signed in April 2024, he made 91 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists.
