Grêmio confirm signing of defender Wallace from CRB on five-year deal

Grêmio have confirmed the signing of defender Wallace from CRB on a five-year contract.

Grêmio have bought 50% of the 21-year-old’s economic rights for R$ three million. CRB said it was the largest academy sale in the club’s history, with the remaining 50% retained by the Alagoas side.

Wallace completed his medical in Porto Alegre and becomes the sixth centre-back in the first-team squad. Bragantino and Cruzeiro had also made enquiries.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Wallace Gomes da Silva Santos made his senior debut for CRB in 2023. This season he has played 19 matches, 12 as a starter.

Last Sunday he came on at half-time against Fortaleza in Série B, filling in at right-back.

A right-footer, he strengthens Grêmio’s defence, which lost Viery in recent hours.
