Grêmio are weighing rotations for Chapecoense, and with Noriega suspended, Danilo Barbosa could start after the 0-0 Gre-Nal.
According to Globo.com, Luís Castro’s side host the visitors at the Arena on Sunday at 18:30 in the 25th round. The club remain in a tight spot in the table while also handling an eliminator against Inter, with the return next Thursday.
Asked post-match at Beira-Rio about his approach, Castro said he would assess players with the medical staff over the next two days, then pick those in the best physical condition.
Noriega’s ban is the only confirmed change from the derby XI, with Danilo the likeliest replacement. He began on the bench against Inter and came on for Noriega on 32 minutes of the second half.
A recent arrival from the Arab leagues, the midfielder is not yet ready to play 90 minutes. Castro also preferred Jovane Cabral on the left to Amuzu, explaining the Belgian was not fit to start and that the Cape Verdean earned his place, leaving selection open for upcoming games.
At centre-back, Kannemann partnered Wallace, while Gustavo Martins returned to the squad after a muscular oedema and could gain minutes against Chapecoense. Right-back Diego Caito, who hurt his shoulder in the derby, will be re-evaluated.
Grêmio sit 15th on 25 points, one ahead of Mirassol, the highest side in the relegation zone.
