Grêmio announced on Wednesday that centre-back Viery has signed a new contract. The club said in a statement that the deal runs until the end of 2029, with the agreement finalised last week.
His previous contract was due to expire in mid-2027. The new terms set a release clause of R$ 64 million for the domestic market and €50 million for overseas clubs, equivalent to R$ 313 million at the current rate.
Botafogo had targeted the defender recently, but Grêmio rejected a loan offer with a purchase option worth around R$ 6 million.
Left-sided in defence, Viery made his senior debut last year, featuring as an emergency left-back at the start of the Gauchão.
This season he has played once in the state championship, a 1-0 defeat to São José-RS.
