Grêmio in talks to sign Danilo Barbosa from Al Ula | OneFootball

Grêmio are in negotiations to sign midfielder Danilo Barbosa, 30, from Al Ula, who play in Saudi Arabia's second division.

GZH first reported the interest, which was later confirmed by ge. The Brazilian would be a replacement for midfielder Leonel Pérez, loaned to Argentina's Racing, and he can also operate at centre-back.

Barbosa worked under coach Luís Castro at Botafogo between 2022 and 2023. Vasco have recently enquired about the player.

He made 35 appearances for Al Ula last season, scoring five goals with two assists. His contract in Saudi Arabia runs until June 2028.

The midfielder won the Libertadores with Botafogo in 2024 and with Palmeiras in 2021, also lifting the Brasileirão with the Rio club in the same year. His career includes spells at Nice, Braga, Benfica, Standard Liege and Valencia, and he came through at Vasco.
