According to Globo.com, Grêmio head coach Luís Castro has been charged over his dismissal in Sunday’s 1-0 win against Coritiba and could be banned for up to six matches.
He has been cited under CBJD article 258, paragraph 2, item II, relating to conduct contrary to discipline or sporting ethics, including disrespecting the match officials or complaining disrespectfully. The provision carries a suspension of one to six games.
Castro was sent off in the 49th minute of the second half after an offside call ruled out a goal by Nardoni. In his report, referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima wrote that, having been booked for dissent, Castro stayed outside the technical area, gesticulated demonstratively and allegedly shouted that nothing had happened, called the referee crazy and warned he would see what he had done.
He will miss Saturday’s match at Athletico-PR due to automatic suspension. The case will be heard by the STJD’s first Disciplinary Commission at 11:00 on Thursday, 30 April.
Grêmio have also been charged under article 206 for delaying the start or restart, and could be fined R$ 100 to R$ 1,000 per minute.
Before their next league outing, Grêmio visit Chile’s Palestino in the Copa Sudamericana third round at 21:30 on Wednesday at Estadio Municipal de La Cisterna, with Luís Castro set to be on the touchline.
