With more than a month until the transfer window opens, Grêmio are planning second-half squad changes, with modest spending and likely sales, according to Globo.com.
A carry-over priority from the last window is a new right-back. Marcos Rocha and João Pedro have seen little game time under Luís Castro, with winger Pavon filling in there.
Exits will be assessed and any sales would require replacements. The early-year outlay of about R$ 100 million will not be repeated. Opportunistic deals could be explored to plug gaps.
An urgent decision concerns Arthur, on loan from Juventus until the 30th, with his future unclear. Without agreement, indications point to a departure, despite player and club wanting him to stay. There is no defined path with the Italians.
Grêmio also expect to raise funds through departures. Midfielder Gabriel Mec and centre-back Viery head the list of potential sales, and both are starters, so replacements would be needed if they go.
The reshaping will continue, with the wage bill trimmed further. Castro has hinted at exits via limited use before the break, with Dodi, Monsalve, João Pedro, André Henrique and Kannemann seldom selected. Kannemann is still viewed as a leader.
In January, six players arrived, goalkeeper Weverton, left-back Caio Paulista, midfielders Leo Pérez and Nardoni, and forwards Tetê and Enamorado. The first two, both formerly of Palmeiras, arrived at no cost, via a termination and a loan. The others required investment.
