Grêmio have received an overseas approach for Kike Olivera, but the forward is not keen on returning to the United States, leaving any move unlikely.

According to Gremistas.net, MLS side DC Columbus contacted the club via a group of agents to discuss a loan for Olivera running until mid-2027. He remains under contract with Grêmio until the end of next year and is currently on loan at Bahia.

Grêmio are open to advancing a deal as Olivera is outside their immediate plans, and there was a preliminary agreement between the clubs. However, talks are not expected to progress because of the player’s stance. He previously featured for Los Angeles FC before joining Grêmio.

Olivera moved to Bahia on loan at the start of the year and had been close to joining Nacional-URU. Grêmio insisted the Uruguayan side assume a 2 million dollars debt owed to Los Angeles FC.

Nacional-URU proposed linking repayment of that sum to performance targets during an initial loan, an offer Grêmio rejected.
