Grêmio host Chapecoense in the Brasileirão on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Arena do Grêmio, with a chance to push clear of the drop while the bottom side chase a lifeline.
Recent meetings were tight. The sides drew 1-1 in March. In the table, Grêmio sit 15th on 25 points, while Chapecoense are 20th with 14.
Imortal come off back to back league defeats after beating São Paulo earlier this month. Chape have taken four points from their last two league games, following a 3-3 draw with Bahia with a 1-0 home win against São Paulo.
Selection wise, Imortal are without midfielders Dodi and Juan Nardoni through injury, with Erick Noriega suspended and defender Gustavo Martins sidelined. For Chape, attacking options are thinned with Yannick Bolasie, Bruno Tubarão, Rafael Carvalheira and Robert out, while midfielder Camilo is suspended and defender João Paulo plus Max are injured.
Tricolor dos Pampas may lean on Carlos Vinícius, third in the league scoring chart with 10, and a strong crossing output that has produced six headed goals. Verdão do Oeste have conceded 46 goals and kept only two clean sheets, but could still threaten in the air themselves, with seven headed goals and 23.15% cross accuracy.
A win would move Imortal to 28 points and could widen the gap to the relegation places. Victory would take Chape to 17 points and cut the deficit to safety, keeping their survival bid alive.
