Flamengo host Botafogo in the Brasileirão on Sunday, 30 August 2026 at the Maracanã, with the hosts aiming to press leaders Palmeiras while the visitors look to strengthen their Sudamericana bid.
Flamengo won the last league meeting 3-0 away in March and sit second with 45 points. Botafogo arrive 11th on 30 points in the Sudamericana bracket.
Fla's recent run reads three wins in five across competitions, including 5-1 at Mirassol, while Fogão have one win in five, losing to Vitória and Athletico Paranaense and drawing with Fluminense.
Mengão are without Bruno Henrique (suspended) and the injured trio Alex Sandro, Vitão and Nicolás de la Cruz. Glorioso are missing goalkeeper Oliveira Warleson, defender Kaio Fernando Da Silva Pantaleao and midfielder Jordan Barrera through injury.
Pedro is central to Fla's threat, sitting second in the league scoring chart with 15 and leading the division for combined goals and assists with 19, while Samuel Lino has added seven assists. Backed by 56% average possession and 88.20% pass accuracy, they could control the game and test a Botafogo defence that has conceded 37 and kept only three clean sheets. For Fogão, Arthur Cabral and Danilo, both on seven league goals, are the key outlets.
A win would move Mengão to 48 points and keep pressure on Palmeiras at the summit. Victory for Glorioso would take them to 33 points and could nudge them into the top 10, bolstering their Sudamericana push.
