VfB Stuttgart are closing in on the signing of Grischa Prömel. The 31-year-old Hoffenheim midfielder, a Stuttgart native, will sign a contract until June 2029 and is set to become one of VfB’s highest earners.
“I’ve often said before games against VfB that it’s something special for me. I was born in Cannstatt and many of my friends are at the stadium,” he told Sky Germany in February.
Hoffenheim, third on goal difference ahead of Stuttgart, pushed hard to keep him with a new deal. Prömel has seven goals and two assists this season and has been ever-present.
Angelo Stiller and Atakan Karazor have forged a strong midfield pairing, with young Spaniard Chema Andres waiting in the wings.
Prömel’s arrival would add experience to Sebastian Hoeneß’s group as they look likely to confirm a third successive campaign in European competition.
