Pep Guardiola has addressed questions over his Manchester City future, saying he has a year left on his deal and pushing back on suggestions he will leave when the season ends.

He signed an extension in June 2024 that runs to 30 June 2027. The BBC reports that no further renewal is planned once that agreement expires, while there is concern inside the club that he may not see out the full term and could depart at the end of this campaign.

Asked directly about his future on Friday, he restated that stance and said his position was unchanged from two months ago. He added that any decision would come after the season concludes.

Guardiola has long maintained that Manchester gives him everything as a manager and that he would not seek another club when he eventually leaves City. On signing that deal in 2024, he said he was delighted to stay for two more seasons and described his time at the club as an honour and a privilege.

City are also preparing for the eventuality of his departure. The squad has begun a major refresh, facilitating the departures of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Ederson Moraes, and the hierarchy has changed too, with Txiki Begiristain leaving and Hugo Viana taking charge of the sporting set-up.
