Gonçalo Guedes has completed a full session with Real Sociedad for the first time since a personal, non-football operation. According to Diario Vasco, the winger skipped pre-season and had spent two weeks apart, yet returned in Zubieta on Wednesday. He is not expected to make Friday’s game against Betis at La Cartuja given the risk after his lay-off.

Coaches had already ruled him out for the opener because he was not ready to train at full tempo. He needs minutes and conditioning, and his first action could come next Wednesday at 21:00 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, or on the 19th against Espanyol at Anoeta.

Team-mates marked his comeback with the customary light-hearted welcome.

Gorrotxategi and Pacheco also trained again in Zubieta, improving their prospects of making the first squad selection. Neither will start against Betis.

Matarazzo again worked with six Sanse players, namely Fraga, Beitia, Lebarbier, Aguirre, Marchal and Carrera. Around half of them will travel to Seville.

With two days to go before the Betis opener, the Real Sociedad coach continues without new signings. On Thursday he will have to answer questions about reaching this point without additions and his priorities for the final two weeks of the window.
