Valencia CF have re-signed Guido Rodríguez, the Argentine midfielder returning to Mestalla on a long-term contract. The club said in a statement that he has agreed a deal for the next two seasons, until 2028, with an optional extra year. He arrives as a major signing for head coach Carlos Corberán.
Rodríguez spent the second half of last season at Valencia, scoring four times in 17 appearances as he became a fixture in midfield. His form brought order and bite to a side that needed both, and he quickly earned Corberán’s trust.
He provided personality, balance and consistency at both ends, qualities that coincided with improved results as Valencia pushed for Europe. He finished as the club’s third top scorer, level with Sadiq or Guerra, behind Ramazani and Hugo Duro.
A World Cup winner with Argentina in Qatar 2022 and a two-time Copa América champion, Rodríguez, 32, brings deep experience. He has played more than 400 senior games across West Ham United, Real Betis, Club América, Club Tijuana, River Plate, Defensa y Justicia and the national team.
His return secures a cornerstone in the middle for Corberán. Not a headline-chaser, he offers control, protects the centre-backs and lets the interiors play with greater freedom.
His winter arrival, alongside Sadiq, Unai Núñez and Renzo, helped transform a Valencia side that had been hovering near the relegation places.
