Guingamp midfielder Kalidou Sidibé is set to join Akhmat Grozny on a three-year contract after passing a medical, according to L'Équipe. The Malian, 27, is out of contract on 30 June and will travel to Russia.

The former Toulouse player had an offer from the Premier Liga club, ninth in the most recent season, and has decided to accept.

Sidibé also received a proposal from Wisla Krakow in Poland and was contacted by several other overseas clubs, notably Queens Park Rangers of the Championship.

Akhmat staff watched him at the stadium on 31 March during Mali’s international against Russia, which ended 0-0.

A recent Mali international, he is set for a second national-team camp and will face Iran in a friendly on 4 June in Antalya, Türkiye.
