Gustavo Caballero called up by Paraguay, misses Santos’ clash with São Paulo | OneFootball

Gustavo Caballero has been called up by Paraguay for friendlies in the FIFA international window, ruling him out of Santos’ Brasileirão trip to São Paulo. The rearranged round 21 fixture kicks off at 20:00 at Morumbis on Friday 2 October.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the Albirroja will face Bolivia on Sunday 27 and Colombia on Friday 2, the same day as the clássico.

The first game is at Audi Field in Washington, the second in New Jersey. Caballero will rejoin Santos after the window and will be available to face Flamengo on 8 October.

Coach Gustavo Alfaro and Paraguay are beginning a new cycle aimed at the 2030 World Cup after a strong campaign this year, when they eliminated Germany on penalties.

Caballero was in Paraguay’s World Cup squad. He stayed on the bench in the group stage, came on in the second half during the heroic win over Germany in the second phase, then featured in the round-of-16 defeat to France.
