Three consecutive defeats, zero goals scored, and considerable controversy: the recent performances of the Sweden in the 2026 World Cup qualification phase are facing criticism as the Swedes currently find themselves at the bottom of Group B with just one point.

Following the 1-0 home defeat against Kosovo on Monday, only a miracle can now save Sweden's participation in the finals.

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres, who failed to score again, expressed his outrage at the Swedish team's attitude throughout the qualification process.

"We don't want it enough that was evident," the 27-year-old said in an interview with Viaplay.

"You could tell from the body language that we don't want it enough. It gets difficult against any opponent. We are not giving our best, we are not fully focused on defence and passing.

"It's about attitude. We were unlucky against Slovenia and Switzerland, but in these two games against Kosovo, we didn't deserve anything. Of course, it's a fiasco."

Meanwhile, Jon Dahl Tomasson, the coach of Sweden, dismissed any possibility of resignation and extended his criticism to his team: "This hurts a lot. It's not good enough. We are giving away easy goals and have forgotten how to score. Resign I have a contract and we are in the middle of the campaign."

"It's a terrible result. I don't have a good answer as to why we are not scoring goals. I don't think the players doubt the tactics, but we were not good when we conceded easy goals. Right now, nobody is doing a good job, not just me. Everyone needs to improve."
