Viktor Gyokeres has finally completed his much-anticipated transfer to Arsenal and is now eager to concentrate on scoring goals for his new club. The Swedish striker has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in world football over the past few seasons and is now expected to bring that level of performance to the Emirates Stadium.
Manager Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal have secured the ideal forward to enhance their attacking line. However, the transfer did not progress as smoothly as hoped, with delays frustrating the Premier League side’s efforts to finalise the deal.
One of the main factors contributing to the delay was Sporting Club’s determination to extract maximum financial value from Gyokeres’s departure. Arsenal had hoped for a swift resolution, but the Portuguese club remained firm in their stance throughout the negotiations.
A significant point of contention emerged around an alleged agreement between Sporting and Gyokeres, which the striker believed entitled him to leave for a lower fee. Sporting denied the existence of any such agreement, maintaining that no formal clause permitted a discounted transfer. This disagreement complicated the talks and extended the timeline of the move.
Gyokeres reportedly felt that Sporting’s position had caused the delay, a view that added further tension during the final stages of the deal. Despite this, the transfer was eventually completed, bringing an end to a protracted saga that had captured considerable attention.

After finalising his move to Arsenal, Gyokeres shared his thoughts on the recent ordeal. Speaking as quoted by The Sun, he said:
“Of course, I’ve had my ups and downs, but above all, the last month has been quite difficult. There’s been a lot of talk on social media about what happened or didn’t happen, but people don’t really know the full story. It was difficult, but I also know it made me stronger.”
Now that the transfer has been completed, the focus shifts to the future. Arsenal can look forward to having Gyokeres lead their line, and the player himself can concentrate on making his mark in North London without the distraction of speculation or unresolved negotiations.
