Late last night, Roberto De Zerbi and Olympique de Marseille parted ways. It came amid a difficult run of form that has seen OM drop off the podium in Ligue 1 and crash out of the UEFA Champions League.
The 5-0 humiliation at the hands of fierce rivals Paris Saint-Germain proved to be the final straw. De Zerbi felt that he good get no more from his group and the decision to end the adventure there was a mutual one.
But it leaves OM in search of a new manager. One has just come onto the market, Habib Beye. The Senegalese manager was relieved of his duties by Stade Rennais just one day earlier. That came after a poor run of form, with the club losing their last four and crashing out of the Coupe de France, at the hands of Marseille.
Foot Mercato understands that Beye is currently the favourite to succeed De Zerbi at the Vélodrome. The former Red Star manager has never hid his ambition to manage Les Phocéens.
