Hackers breach Remo site after president’s insult, defend Neymar | OneFootball

Remo’s official website was hacked on Saturday, with the defacement defending Neymar after club president Antônio Carlos Teixeira, known as Tonhão, insulted him following the club’s Copa do Brasil exit to Santos in the last 16. According to Diario Do Peixe, the breach came days after the tie.

During the intrusion, the site showed a montage of Neymar and Tonhão alongside a message criticising the president and praising the forward’s work off the pitch. The group, identifying itself as Umbrella Gang, posted links to reports on Neymar’s donations in Rio Grande do Sul and Venezuela, projects run by the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr and initiatives for children with cancer.

Tempers had flared after Santos won 1-0 at the Mangueirão, when Neymar argued with Remo supporters, players and officials in the tunnel, repeatedly calling them eliminated and shouting that this is Santos. Tonhão later gave an interview in which he called Neymar a vagabundo.

The hackers also taunted Remo by praising city rivals Paysandu as the bigger club. Minutes later the long message was removed, leaving only the montage and a line asserting Umbrella Gang’s hack alongside a shout to Paysandu.

Remo is working to restore normal service on its official site. Neymar had provided the assist in Santos’ win that sealed Remo’s elimination.
