Speaking to the press this Friday after announcing his squad list, Walid Regragui addressed the case of Hakim Ziyech. Will the former Chelsea star feature at the 2025 AFCON on home soil?

For over a year now, Hakim Ziyech has not returned to the national team with Morocco. Could he make his comeback for AFCON 2025? Although the playmaker has just signed with Wydad Casablanca, Walid Regragui was both enthusiastic and cautious in his remarks.

"Congratulations to Hakim Ziyech. Anyone would be delighted to see him back on the pitch. We always want to see him perform. It's good for WAC and for the Botola as well," praised the Atlas Lions' head coach. Speaking about Ziyech’s chances of playing in AFCON, Regragui reminded everyone that the team’s hierarchy has evolved.

"There’s a reality on the pitch: today’s national team is not the same as it was two years ago. We have players who are regulars at the highest level. To those who are not selected: send signals, show that you can help, and I will make my choices." he said. So Ziyech still has an open door for AFCON 2025.
