Everton have signed right-back Hannah Blundell on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.
A four-time WSL champion with Chelsea, the 31-year old is the Toffees’ first signing of the January transfer window.
“I am really excited! I can’t wait to get going and meet all the girls and our fans,” Blundell told Everton’s club television channel in quotes distributed to the media. “The stadium is fantastic. Every time I have played against Everton, you can always hear the fans. They are always brilliant and I cannot wait to have them on my side and hopefully give them some excitement.
“Everton have got an amazing history – that is something I cannot wait to be a part of. I know some of the players which makes it a lot easier coming in. I am sure I am going to get along with all the girls – they seem like a great group and are fantastic players.
“The way the club is going is something I am looking forward to being a part of. Playing at Goodison Park is fantastic.”
Blundell progressed through Chelsea’s academy and won the WSL with them four times and the FA Cup twice.
She joined Manchester United in 2021, winning the FA Cup in 2023-24.
She gave birth to her first child – a daughter, Romi – in March 2025, and returned to first-team action in November.
Blundell is clearly seeking more minutes, and in further comments explained that Everton head coach Brian Sorensen is someone she wants to work with.
“The conversations I have had with Brian, my profile is what he is looking for,” she continued in her shared quotes. “Hopefully, I can bring that to the team and hopefully he can improve me. I am really looking forward to getting going.
“The first conversation I had with him got me really excited to join the club. He is definitely one of the reasons I did. Both of our ambitions aligned, so that made it easy for me to be here.
“Of course, I need to work hard to earn that position and I am more than happy to do that. Hopefully when I am playing, I can bring a good performance, good experience to the girls, get the three points and help Everton climb the table.”
In a social media post, Blundell wrote a thank you to Manchester United’s fans and staff, suggesting that she may be seeking a permanent move elsewhere.
“It’s been an honour to wear the United badge and share so many unforgettable moments with you all,” she wrote.
“This club and its supporters will always hold a special place in my heart.”
