FC Barcelona have not been performing at their best on the pitch this season. Persistent injuries have not allowed the Spanish club to kick on and take their project to the next level.

Meanwhile, one player who seems to be in his final season at the Catalan club is Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is 37 years old, and his body has started to show signs of slowing down in recent months.

Barcelona signed the decorated striker from Bayern Munich four seasons ago, when he was 33, and yet he has performed at an astonishing level for the Catalan club. Lewandowski has managed to maintain his fitness much better than some of his contemporaries.

Now, according to Fichajes, Hansi Flick seems keen to go down the same route again to replace the Pole. The German coach has set his sights on Harry Kane, who, incidentally, is the player Bayern signed to replace Lewandowski.

The English number nine is currently 32 and will be 33 when the season comes to a close. He would be the same age as Lewandowski when he made the move to Barcelona, and there will be a sense of déjà vu if this transfer goes through.

Bayern are said to be willing to part ways with the Tottenham Hotspur legend for around €65 million next summer. Despite his advancing age, Kane continues to be one of the most in-form strikers in world football.

If Barcelona sign Kane, they would hope that he can have a Lewa-esque impact. Over the years, the Englishman has also proved to be a very fit footballer, and he should have two to three years left at the top level of the game.

Ultimately, it all comes down to the player’s desire and whether he wants to continue his career at Barcelona. With Alan Shearer’s record in sight, Kane might want to move back to the Premier League, and let’s wait and see how things play out.
