After the 3–1 Barcelona win over Alavés in La Liga at the Spotify Camp Nou last Saturday, an image involving Hansi Flick and Raphinha went viral. The German manager appeared dejected, with the Brazilian consoling him.
There was widespread speculation about why Flick looked as he did. However, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has now stepped forward to address the viral snapshot, offering clarity ahead of a pivotal La Liga clash against Atletico Madrid.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference today, as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, Flick sought to dispel the rumors with a mix of humor and candor:
“My moment with Raphinha? Well, it was a funny thing, I don’t know who first described that I was sad. I was frustrated, we lost a lot of balls, and I was also frustrated because we got two suspensions from the bench.”

The German tactician explained that his frustration was directed at the team’s performance rather than any individual player. The loss of possession and the subsequent disciplinary issues were key factors in his visibly downcast appearance, rather than a rift with anyone.
This explanation aligns with Flick’s consistent calls for improvement, as he has repeatedly urged his squad to exhibit greater control and minimize errors on the pitch.
The German looked visibly disturbed by what happened against Alaves, and let us hope he has refreshed and recovered ahead of the Atletico game.
