According to a report from MARCA, it has come to light that Eric Garcia could be set for yet another change of role under Hansi Flick.
Despite being a natural defender, capable of playing both as a centre-back and a full-back, Garcia is also being considered as an option to replace Frenkie de Jong in the double pivot alongside Marc Casado against Valencia.
Flick has found what many would describe as the perfect “wild card” in Garcia, who has already shown his versatility in Barcelona’s opening games of the season.
He started the first two La Liga matches, against Mallorca and Levante, at right-back before shifting to centre-back against Rayo Vallecano.
Now, with De Jong facing a spell on the sidelines, Garcia is among the leading candidates to fill in as a midfielder.

But with Gavi also ruled out for the game against Valencia, Garcia has emerged as another strong candidate in order to have some depth in the department.
Flick’s faith in the player could lead to him occupying his third different position in just four league fixtures this season.
After playing as a defender in the opening matches, a midfield role may be on the horizon – something that would underline just how valuable his adaptability is to Flick’s system.
If the Barcelona coach does indeed opt for Garcia in the double pivot, it would further highlight his trust in the player to take responsibility wherever needed.
For Garcia, it represents not only an opportunity to secure consistent minutes but also to show that his tactical intelligence can make him indispensable across multiple roles.
