After an emphatic win over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is grappling with serious selection headaches ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter Milan.
The recent Clasico exposed significant physical strains in the Barcelona squad, and despite the win, the match went to extra time, leaving several key players completely exhausted just days before the crucial European encounter.
As things stand, up to seven Barcelona players expected to start against Inter, namely, Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran Torres, played 100 minutes or more.
Only Pedri and Ferran were substituted before the end of the 120 gruelling minutes, and it is clear that the marathon final has pushed Flick’s squad to their physical limits.

Although Inter Milan are themselves struggling with form and injuries, Barcelona cannot afford to underestimate the Italian side.
Yet the reality is that Barça’s treble hopes are beginning to look increasingly fragile, given the sheer physical demands placed on their players in recent weeks.
In terms of team selection, doubts remain over two positions: left-back and attacking midfielder. While Flick could move Inigo Martinez to left-back, it seems more likely that Gerard Martin will retain his place.
Meanwhile, in midfield, Fermin Lopez could replace Dani Olmo, who has battled fitness problems throughout the season and would be better used as an option from the bench.
The physical toll from the Copa final has clearly left the squad tired, but with smart rotation and good planning, Barcelona will hope to overcome Inter and keep their treble dreams alive.
Flick will need to be really cautious given that this clash against Inter remains crucial for their treble hopes. While they do Copa del Rey title in the bag, there is still La Liga and the UEFA Champions League to be won.
