Hansi Flick has praised Karim Adeyemi’s immediate impact at Barcelona, highlighting the forward’s blistering pace and early influence on the squad.
According to Goal.com, the 24-year-old joined from Borussia Dortmund for €22m and was initially expected to back up Lamine Yamal on the right, but a switch to the left has increased pressure on Anthony Gordon. His best display so far came in midweek against Racing Santander, when he played the full 90 minutes and won two penalties in a 7-2 win.
Flick said Adeyemi is exceptionally quick, noting Alphonso Davies as a comparable reference point, and described him as a respectful team-mate who is popular in the dressing room.
The Barcelona manager added that he thinks Adeyemi had not been enjoying a good spell in Germany and that a change of country has helped, stressing he is glad the move happened.
He said he trusts Adeyemi completely and is backing him, adding that more performances like Wednesday’s should follow.
The contest for the left-wing role has steadied Barcelona’s attack. With Deco securing two wingers of contrasting profiles, the side remain potent without relying solely on Gordon’s five assists, while the competition also allows Raphinha to thrive as a false nine, a tweak already yielding nine domestic goals.
