Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of a key member of the club’s defensive ranks.
The player in question? Jules Koundé.
Stopper Koundé is for his part fresh off an outing to remember on the continent on Wednesday.
Afforded a starting berth in Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Red Star Belgrade, the Frenchman shone bright from his berth at right-back, laying on a trio of assists en route to an eventual 5-2 triumph.
This marked just the latest fine showing amid what has been a superb start to the campaign for Koundé in Catalunya’s capital.
And, as alluded to above, post-match, quick to make clear his appreciation for as much was headmaster Hansi Flick.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the full-time whistle in Belgrade, Blaugrana boss Flick lavished praise on his ‘very professional’ right-back:
“Koundé is a good example for the whole team. He’s improving a lot this season. He’s growing with each performance. He’s a very professional player, always focused during games and training. I value a lot that he made those assists.
“Since day one at Barça, I kept saying that Jules Koundé is an excellent player. Once again, you saw how good he is.”
