Hansi Flick has paid tribute to Robert Lewandowski after the striker confirmed he will leave Barcelona this summer.

Speaking before the La Liga meeting with Real Betis, the Barcelona coach, who worked with him at Bayern Munich, hailed his professionalism and past success. According to Goal.com, Flick said, "I won every title with him. That's nine titles in total. It's good for him and for the club."

Lewandowski joined from Germany in 2022 for €50 million and says his mission is complete after four seasons. He collected seven trophies, including three La Liga titles and three Spanish Super Cups, and won the Pichichi in his debut year. He hit 42 goals in the 2024-25 domestic treble campaign.

Flick described the decision as mutual and endorsed by the hierarchy. "The decision was made this way. We didn't consider other possibilities. We respect it," he said.

The forward has already said goodbye to team-mates and is set for a final appearance at the stadium. With 119 goals in 191 games, placing him 14th on the all-time list, replacing him will be difficult. Flick said he will start and deserves a proper send-off, and that recruitment work has begun.

The head coach also underlined Lewandowski's leadership in a young dressing room during a testing period, calling him a role model who always gave everything. There has been interest from MLS clubs, and there are suggestions Al Hilal have already made a formal offer worth about €90 million per season.
