Hansi Flick talks Raphinha, Xavi Espart, Yamal, and Gordon as Barcelona triumph over Athletic Club | OneFootball

La Liga will be certainly present challenges for FC Barcelona this season, but they seem to be doing alright so far. The Catalan giants have two wins from two games so far, and Hansi Flick’s side appears to be ready to take on anything that is thrown at them right now.

Their recent victory over Athletic Club, a dominant 2-0 win, was enough to push them straight to the top of the La Liga table. Following the team’s impressive performance, even the Barcelona coach could not help but praise his players.

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, Flick spoke highly of several players following the game, with one such player being Raphinha and his ability to play effectively across various positions for this team:

“It’s important that we have a game plan and that whoever plays up front, whether it’s Raphinha or someone else, sticks to it. He’s doing very well. He’s fantastic and dynamic. His intensity and runs are fantastic for us. He’s perfect for us.”

Flick was also asked about Xavi Espart, and the Barça coach could not help but admit that he was even a little surprised by the level of the youngster from La Masia:

“I’m very satisfied with what I’m seeing, and I’m even a little surprised by how well he’s playing at left-back. He’s always focused. He’s a player with good quality, and defensively, he’s very good in one-on-one situations. He’s top. I’m very happy with him. Like all players, he still has room to improve.”

As for Lamine Yamal, who ended up playing the whole game, Flick stated that it was important for the player so that he could continue to develop physically:

“It’s important for Lamine to play 90 minutes.”

Lastly, when speaking about Anthony Gordon, the Barça coach was once again full of praise while also suggesting that he could continue to improve even further:

“His speed and intensity are good for us, and he has a lot of potential to take his game to the next level.”

It seems that the German tactician has quite the squad with some great profiles at his disposal this season, and he plans to take it to the next level. However, tougher challenges await his team heading deeper into the season, and he will be hoping that his team can be ready for them in time.
