Hansi Flick has endeared himself to the FC Barcelona faithful in the 18 months that he has been at the club.
The 60-year-old German tactician has brought success back to the club, with the team playing an attractive, eye-catching brand of football, while he has fully embraced the idea of blooding talents from La Masia.
So, it does not come as a surprise that, having extended his contract only six months ago, Barcelona are already considering offering him another renewal.
Flick’s current contract runs until 2027, but the Catalans are hoping to secure his continuity at the club for an additional year until 2028, with initial talks having taken place.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, although he has not stated it in such direct terms himself, it would be difficult to imagine Flick renewing his contract with Barcelona if Joan Laporta does not remain in office after the next elections.
The Barça presidential elections are set to take place in a few months, with Laporta contesting again, in the hope of remaining in office.
And, the results of the election could be a key factor in whether Flick decides to renew his contract or not.

After all, the German coach shares a special bond with Laporta, something which he has alluded to many times.
Indeed, he recently expressed his gratitude towards Laporta after making it clear that “the president is the reason why I am here”.
It was not the first time Flick had publicly thanked Laporta for trusting him with the Barcelona bench, a gratitude he also extends to Deco and the entire sporting staff.
It all began with that letter written in German that Laporta handed him over dinner before he signed his contract as Barcelona coach. In that letter, the president conveyed the virtues of the place Flick was about to arrive at, and after reading it, the coach was convinced.
“It made me feel from the very first moment that it is an incredible, very great club,” Flick himself explained.
Now, with the club hoping to renew his contract until 2028, Laporta’s success in the upcoming elections could become key.
