Leeds United striker Harry Gray says Sheffield Wednesday’s vast support, including 24,000 season tickets, helped convince him to join on a season-long loan for 2026/27 in League One.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old sampled League One with Rotherham United from January to May. He will now link up with an Owls side targeting an immediate return to the Championship after a new ownership regime brought a party atmosphere to Hillsborough at the end of last season.
Gray said several clubs were interested but choosing a club of Wednesday’s size was straightforward. He felt the timing was ideal, with a full pre-season to settle, and described Hillsborough as special when the fans are in full voice. He thinks this year should be unbelievable and hopes it will be a season to remember, calling Wednesday the perfect place for him.
Sporting director Simon Wilson said Gray has an elite youth record and showed at Rotherham that his qualities can translate to senior football. In difficult circumstances he still made a strong attacking impact, which Wilson believes provides a solid base to build on.
Wilson added that Wednesday’s playing identity demands creating plenty of chances, and they expect Gray to be a major threat. He thanked Leeds for trusting the club with the next phase of the youngster’s development and said they look forward to bringing him into the group.
