Leeds United said in a statement that Harry Gray has joined League One side Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan for 2026/27.

It became clear early last season that academy football offered limited further development for the 17-year-old, who hit 11 goals in 14 Under-21 games. He then pushed for senior minutes and moved to Rotherham United in January.

Gray featured regularly amid Rotherham’s relegation fight, playing through the middle and out wide. He scored three times in 20 outings against older, more seasoned opponents.

Leeds hope a full campaign at Hillsborough brings more goal-scoring opportunities with promotion-chasing Wednesday. Gray has already linked up for pre-season, and the Owls are under new ownership with former Leeds captain Liam Cooper signed for the coming season. They are expected to be among the contenders for a return to the Championship.

Gray made his Leeds first-team debut aged 16 against Stoke City in 2024/25 on the day promotion to the top flight was sealed. He has been capped by England at Under-17 level, and Leeds will monitor his progress very closely.
