FC Barcelona have significantly strengthened their attack this summer with the signings of players like Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi. However, one position in this area which has actually suffered is that of the center-forward, where the Blaugranes have lost important players like Robert Lewandowski and Marcus Rashford, while Ferran Torres is also close to completing his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Catalans are aware of this weakness in their team, and have been trying to reinforce it for the entirety of the summer. However, they have not been able to push Atletico Madrid into starting negotiations for their highest-priority transfer target, Julian Alvarez.
Recent reports suggest that the Argentine is now committed to continuing with the Colchonero club, and with every passing day, the urgency to land another striker will increase for Barcelona. In fact, they have been linked with several high-profile players for this purpose, including the Bayern Munich star Harry Kane.
However, the Englishman had made it clear that he had no plans to leave the Bavarian club, and now, the journalist Christian Falk has revealed in his latest column at CF Bayern Insider that the forward is set to sign a new contract with Bayern, which will tie him to the Bundesliga side until at least 2029.
The former Tottenham forward is already 33 years of age, and for players of his age group, the German side normally offers only a single-year contract. However, the striker’s is a special case, being one of the contenders to win the Ballon d’Or this year, which has convinced them to offer him a three-year contract. Furthermore, there could be the option to further extend this contract by a year.
Meanwhile, other options for Barcelona like Eli Junior Kroupi have also been ruled out, while Inter Milan have clarified that the Blaugranes have made no contact with them for Lautaro Martinez. Thus, options for the Catalans are reducing with every passing day, and they will have to ensure they land a new center-forward for Hansi Flick as soon as possible.
