Harry Kane the odds-on favourite for the Ballon d'Or

Harry Kane is the favourite to be awarded the Men's Ballon d'Or this year which would make him the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001.

Since Owen's win when he finished ahead of Raúl González and Oliver Kahn, English players have made the top three but are yet to be awarded the trophy. The likes of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, and most recently Jude Bellingham have come close but not close enough.

However, a quarter of a century later that could all change with the Bayern Munich striker 4/7 favourites with one bookie ahead of the competition.

As ever, World Cup years can prove decisive in the awarding of the prize but Spain stars Lamine Yamal (11/4 odds) and Rodri (9/2) could split the vote allowing Kane to race ahead.

Outside of those three the odds look slim for any of the other 30 nominees with Kylian Mbappé the fourth favourite on 6/1.

Kane scored an incredible 61 goals for Bayern Munich across 51 games in all competitions in the 2025/26 season and scored six goals at the 2026 World Cup for England.
