Harry Kane to receive European Golden Shoe | OneFootball

Harry Kane will receive the European Golden Shoe award as the continent’s top goalscorer in 2023/24 this coming Tuesday. The Bayern striker netted 36 goals in the Bundesliga last season, which was more than any other player across European first divisions. He’s the third Munich player to earn the special award after Gerd Müller (1969/70 and 1971/72) and Robert Lewandowski (2020/21 and 2021/22). He will be presented with the trophy in the FC Bayern Museum at the Allianz Arena at a ceremony from 6.30pm CEST, which you’ll be able to watch live and for free on Bayern’s club channels and YouTube site.

The prize for Europe’s top goalscorer was first handed out by French publication L’Équipe from 1968 to 1991. It has been presented by the European Sports Media (ESM) since 1997. FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen will hand over the award to Kane alongside Jörg Jakob, ESM president and editor-in-chief of German publication kicker. Some of the big names to have earned the award alongside Müller and Lewandowski include Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Francesco Totti, Thierry Henry, Ronaldo Nazario, Marco van Basten, Hristo Stoichkov and Eusebio. Former Bayern strikers Roy Makaay and Luca Toni are also past winners from their time at Deportivo La Coruna and Fiorentina respectively.
